I may be biased – but Canmore is a beautiful location for a wedding! Located in the picturesque Canadian Rockies, and known for its stunning mountain views and outdoor activities – it has endless things to do and see. In addition to that, there are many venues in Canmore that would be perfect for a wedding, including outdoor locations with breathtaking views of the mountains and every type of receptions space from rustic barns to modern restaurants. Some popular options for wedding venues in Canmore include the Canmore Nordic Centre, the Malcolm Hotel, Silvertip Lodge, Stewart Creek and the Sensory.
There are a few key things to consider when planning a wedding in Canmore, Alberta. Here are some tips to help you plan a successful and memorable event:
1. Choose a venue that fits your style and budget: Canmore has a wide range of beautiful venues to choose from, including outdoor spaces with stunning mountain views, elegant hotels, and rustic barns. Take the time to visit potential venues and consider what will work best for your wedding.
2. Plan for the weather: Canmore has a dry, continental climate with cold winters and warm summers. However, it is important to be prepared for any type of weather and have a backup plan in case of inclement weather.
3. Consider the time of year: The peak season for weddings in Canmore is from May to September, so you may want to consider having your wedding during the off-season to avoid crowds and save a little money on your venue.
4. Book vendors early: Popular vendors in Canmore can get booked up quickly, (for me I am usually fully booked for prime summer dates 8 months in advance) so it’s important to start planning early and book vendors as soon as possible to ensure that you get the services you need.
5. Get a marriage license: Before you can get married in Alberta, you need to obtain a marriage license from a registry agent. You can do this online or in person, but make sure to do it at least a few weeks before your wedding. If you are coming in from another country you can pre-book your marriage license at the Canmore Registry!
