It’s So Nice to Meet you, I’m Emilia

capturing wedding, elopements, and couples

A young woman with wavy hair gazes thoughtfully out a window in Calgary, resting her elbow on the sill and her hand near her temple. She wears a light sweater, softly lit by natural light in this black-and-white photo.

Hey, I’m Emilia – Just a wife and a mom who lives for snow days and tea lattes

I am also a professional third wheel who lives for watching cooking competitions, any wine that comes in a bottle, and has a mild addiction to Schitt’s Creek. When I am not out capturing those “magic moments”, you can find me in the kitchen licking the bowl while creating the next “best darn thing you’ve ever had”.

All that aside, I am a professional photographer that finds inspiration from the relationships people create with one another – in other words… you and your people! I just want to spend my time helping my clients remember all the little nuances that life has gifted them, be it the love between two partners or one big family – I am there. for. it.

To Tell A Good Story, You Must Know Your own. Here’s Mine:

I grew up surrounded by the world of photography, with my father working as a photographer and videographer in Banff for over 25 years, capturing stunning landscapes for the National Parks and the Banff Centre for the Arts. Though I always had a love for photography, I resisted making it my career for a long time, unsure if I wanted to follow in his footsteps. But after earning my fine arts degree, I couldn’t deny the pull of my creative passion, and I found myself drawn back to the lens. Everything changed in 2013 when my boss asked me to photograph his wedding — and from that moment on, wedding photography became my calling, blending my love of art with the joy of capturing life’s most important moments.

A Passionate Creative with big dreams

Since Picking up a Camera at age 7, I’ve Fallen in love with the art of Photography

Looking ahead, I see my wedding photography career continuing to grow and evolve, with a focus on capturing ever more meaningful, intimate, and timeless moments for couples. I want to expand my creative boundaries, experimenting with new techniques while staying true to my documentary and fine art roots. I also hope to connect with more couples who share my passion for storytelling, allowing me to travel and photograph weddings in new and inspiring locations around the world. Ultimately, I aspire to create a legacy of photographs that not only document a couple’s wedding day but also become treasured heirlooms for generations to come.

A glimpse into this journey I call life. I’m so thankful for every moment!

A glimpse into my life

I’m a wife to Lars and a proud mom to our daughter, Charlotte. Born in Banff and raised in Canmore, I moved to Calgary in 2020, where my family and I bought our first home. Lars and I got married in 2021, and since then, we’ve been living life to the fullest, cherishing every moment together.

Before diving into wedding photography, I spent 12 years working in restaurants, where I developed a true passion for hospitality, good food, and great drinks. That love for creating memorable experiences translates into my work as a photographer, where I focus on capturing the authentic, heartfelt moments that make your wedding day truly special.

Outside of work, you’ll find me enjoying the outdoors — snowboarding in the winter, and hiking or paddleboarding in the summer. Our family’s favorite place is White Swan Lake in BC, where we take an annual camping trip to reconnect and recharge. We share our home with our energetic dog, Finley, and two mischievous cats, Daisy and Duke, who always keep things interesting.

As a wedding photographer, my goal is simple: to document your love story in a way that feels genuine, beautiful, and timeless. I’m here to capture those unforgettable moments that you’ll treasure forever — just as I do with my own family.

How Would you Describe your Personal style?

I’ve been honored to photograph Over 300 Weddings and Elopements in My career

My photography style is a blend of fine art and documentary, with an emphasis on capturing real, candid moments in the most authentic way. I focus on storytelling — documenting the emotions, the quiet glances, and the unscripted moments that make your day truly unique. I love creating images that feel timeless and natural, using light and composition to enhance the beauty of every scene without it feeling forced or staged.

While I’ll guide you through some portraiture to capture those cherished moments, I also embrace a photojournalistic approach, letting the day unfold in front of my lens. My goal is to create a collection of images that not only reflect the joy and love of your wedding day, but also preserve the little details that often go unnoticed, making your photos as personal and meaningful as the day itself.
