Elizabeth & Nick | Helicopter Elopement in Canmore

When Elizabeth and Nick first reached out to me, they were planning the wedding of their dreams—a grand affair with all the bells and whistles. But after a few months of planning, they decided to change things up. Sometimes you just have to follow your heart, and this couple knew they wanted something a little more intimate, a little more… them. So, they switched gears and decided to elope! But not just any elopement—oh no. They opted for a helicopter elopement in Canmore (yes, you read that right)—a jaw-dropping, once-in-a-lifetime adventure in the Canadian Rockies.

Enter Martha’s Heli Hikes with Alpine Helicopters. If you’ve ever thought about doing something that combines the beauty of nature, adventure, and romance in the most epic way possible, this is it. You get a flight, a scenic mountain landing, and then 2-3 hours of exploring with your expert guide. And, wait for it—Martha is also an ordained officiant, so she can perform your ceremony right there on top of a mountain. If that’s not the dream, I don’t know what is.

After we signed the paperwork (nothing says we’re about to get married like some legal docs), we hopped into the helicopter. Talk about an unforgettable ride! If you’ve never taken a helicopter before, let me tell you: the views are INSANE. You’re flying over rugged peaks, lush valleys, and crystalline lakes. Every direction you turn feels like a postcard. Elizabeth and Nick were totally soaking it all in—and Nick, a bit of a thrill-seeker, couldn’t wipe the grin off his face the whole time.

The landing was smooth, and we touched down at the iconic Mt. St. Charles Stewart just east of Canmore. And let me tell you, this spot? Breathtaking. It was the perfect backdrop for what was about to be one of the most magical ceremonies I’ve ever witnessed.

We got to work quickly, scouting the area for the best light to set the mood. I mean, you don’t want a bad photo op when you’re getting married on top of a mountain! After finding the perfect spot, Martha began the ceremony. With the vast mountain ranges stretching out behind them and the cool mountain air filling their lungs, Elizabeth and Nick shared their vows, exchanged rings, and sealed it all with a kiss.

And just like that, they were newlyweds—in the most epic setting possible. Honestly, I don’t think you could ask for a better place to start your forever.

Once the “I do’s” were said, it was time for some serious exploration. Martha led us around the area, finding the most incredible peaks and vantage points for photos. Seriously, dramatic doesn’t even begin to cover it. The mountain ranges were covered in snow and the skies were a mix of clouds and sunlight, making every shot feel like it came straight out of a movie. We snapped some unforgettable photos of Elizabeth and Nick, and the whole time, they were just so happy. Like, the kind of joy that radiates through the photos and leaves you thinking, “this is what love is all about.”

As we wrapped up the photo session and started making our way back, the weather started to shift—classic mountain weather. Clouds started moving in, and we thought, “Time to find a new spot before it gets too wild out here.” So we made our way to a sunnier area and set up for a little post-ceremony picnic. And what’s a picnic without champagne? We popped a bottle of bubbly, toasted to love, and soaked in the surroundings one last time. I mean, how could you not appreciate the beauty of this place with the love of your life by your side?

There’s something about a helicopter elopement that makes everything feel just a little bit more magical. The freedom, the beauty, the intimacy—it’s all wrapped up in one epic day. I’m so grateful to have been part of Elizabeth and Nick’s journey, and I can’t imagine a better way to begin their new life together than with a heart-stopping adventure like this.

So, if you’re thinking about eloping, why not do it in the most unique way possible? A heli elopement in the mountains may just be the perfect choice for you, too.

Congrats, Elizabeth and Nick! Wishing you a lifetime of love, laughter, and even more epic adventures.
